The first Down to Earth site on Gower, Our Murton site has been a pioneering example of sustainable design since 2005.

Four Acres of Beautiful Outdoor Space

This is where it all started! Since 2005, we’ve created a remarkable and inspirational venue; hand-crafted by our groups and demonstrating how it is possible to bring together the best of the old and the new to create something which is genuinely fit for the future.

Stunning community-led construction. Experience remarkable buildings made with natural materials by our groups. From timber frame buildings filled with natural insulation to earthen buildings with green roofs, our buildings are unlike anything you’ll have experienced before.

Renewable and off-grid technologies. We generate our own electricity with our 22kW array for our buildings and EVs. We harvest rainwater for toilets on our own ecological sewage treatment system. Our buildings are heated by heat pumps and wood burners with firewood supplied from our own woodland activities.

Food and nature are central with a Forest Garden, polytunnel and outdoor reared pigs. We cook and eat together with produce from our own site.

Applied and integrated learning. From creating every building to looking after the site, the entire 4 acres is a living and breathing learning experience for our groups to connect with each other and nature.

Located just 10 minutes’ walk from Caswell Beach and 5 minutes’ drive from Mumbles, it’s a stunning location for groups to experience.

The Giant Tipi Tents

A unique and versatile venue for your event

Set in our meadow, each tipi comfortably accommodates up to 70 guests seated, with the option to link multiple tents for larger gatherings.

In a double setup, we can host up to 140 guests seated, and we also offer triple or quadruple linked configurations for even more flexibility.

Customisable layouts

The tipi’s open-plan interior can be easily reconfigured to suit the unique needs of your event.

Climate Control

Featuring ventilation systems and adjustable sidewalls that allow you to regulate the temperature to suit the season. For winter events, we offer additional heating options or even the charm of a cosy  fire pit.

Connectivity and power

We offer reliable Wi-Fi across the entire Murton site, including the tipi area, ensuring that you stay connected.

Our tipis are available to hire from May to September, with winter events available upon request

The Barn

A welcoming and flexible space for your event

Our Barn is a beautifully designed, sustainably built timber frame structure providing the perfect setting for intimate events, comfortably accommodating up to 20 people seated. 

Warmth and Comfort

The barn is equipped with a woodburner to create a cozy, rustic atmosphere, ideal for colder months

The interior allows you to arrange the furniture in a variety of configurations to suit your event needs. .

The Lower Cob Building

A charming handcrafted hideaway

Our Lower Cob Building is a delightful, handcrafted space, built using traditional earth and straw bale building techniques.  This little hideaway can comfortably host up to 6 people seated, making it the perfect spot for small gatherings, a quiet retreat, or a special escape.

Self catering

You are very welcome to bring your own food for events! If you’d like to use the kitchen for food preparation, we kindly ask for a £20 fee to cover cleaning afterward.

Catering

We can organise vegetarian and vegan catering for you, using local partners.

Organic & Fair Trade Hot Drinks with Biscuits

Enjoy a selection of organic and fair trade hot drinks, served with delicious organic biscuits:

  • £2.20 per person for instant coffee, teas, herbal teas, or hot chocolate, including organic biscuits
  • £3.00 per person for freshly brewed filter coffee, teas, herbal teas, or hot chocolate, including organic biscuits

We offer a comprehensive range of high-quality audio-visual equipment to ensure your event runs smoothly. Available for hire are:

Whether you’re hosting a small meeting or a large conference, we have the right equipment to enhance your presentation and create a seamless experience.

E-vehicle charging from the sun!

We’re pleased to offer 4 x 22kW charge points and 1 x 50kW rapid charge point fully powered from our own on site solar panels or imported from local community owned solar farm – Gower Power. These charge points are managed by Clenergy – links to the app on Apple and Android here

Car parking

We encourage car sharing as it’s a nicer way to travel and saves our planet’s lovely resources.  We also have limited parking space. For larger groups (more than 20 people) we would encourage transport by minibus/coach to the venue. 

Pricing

Our venues are available between 8.30am and 5pm. You can hire the space by the hour or for the full day.
From £150 per day

Our venues are also available in the evening between 6pm and 10pm. From £100 per evening
